On Tuesday, legislative leaders responded to a tire manufacturing company’s announcement that it will be bringing a manufacturing facility to the state, creating 800 new jobs in the region.
The facility will be located in eastern North Carolina and is expected to yield $580 million in new investment.
Triangle Global Group, a Chinese tire manufacturing company, will be constructing its first U.S. based manufacturing facility and has chosen Edgecombe County as the location for two production plants.
The announcement follows another recent win for job creation in the state after earlier this week Conduent Incorporated announced a Wake County facility that will create 200 jobs.
Sen. Rick Horner (R-Wilson) responded to the announcement saying, “Today’s announcement is a terrific Christmas present for our state, and particularly for eastern North Carolina. I couldn’t be happier that more families in the rural communities I represent will be getting back to work, in part because of our years-long commitment to reducing taxes, improving our regulatory environment and creating a business climate that encourages the private sector to create jobs. You can be sure we’re on the right path when we see our rural counties add good jobs like these – the kind of job growth that happens when state leaders work together to make North Carolina one of the most attractive places to do business, not only in our country, but in the entire world.”
North Carolina House Speaker Rep. Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) also released a statement welcoming Triangle Tire to the state saying, “I’m thrilled to welcome Triangle Tire to North Carolina to build their first manufacturing operation in the United States. Our workforce and business climate can help them fulfill the economic promise of such an exciting jobs announcement for the citizens of our state.”
The Triangle Tire announcement caps an exciting month for manufacturing and technology jobs announcements in North Carolina.
